A New World of Wine at Home — Biodynamics

Defining an Appellation — The Russian River Valley

Blending Culture and Tradition with Wine — Argentina

GPR joined forces with the Russian River Valley Winegrowers (RRVW) as marketing and PR consultant in 1998, at a critical juncture between the past and future of this storied appellation. The board of directors was searching for a way to better establish and promote the key varietals that were best suited to this cool-climate region.

The dilemma we faced was that of over-abundance, as the Russian River Valley was widely known as an area in which a variety of grapes could be grown successfully. MGPR understood, however, that in order for this region to be truly noted as a world-class AVA, the RRVW as an organization needed to narrow its focus on what the Russian River Valley did best, and why. It didn't take much to realize that this region's abundance of cool, foggy days offers ideal growing conditions for both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

As a follow-up to this decision, the board of directors encouraged MGPR to work separately with individual wineries within the Russian River Valley appellation to further promote this entire appellation as a producer of some of the finest Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays in the United States, if not the world. Our coordinated efforts with clients like Davis Bynum and J Wine Company allowed MGPR to focus on establishing the Russian River Valley as what New York Times wine columnist Frank J. Prial, among many others, claimed to be "Just possibly California's and America's finest source of pinot noir wine."
